For architects and interior designers

We make what you specify

Idaho Mountain Design Group casts original relief artwork in solid bronze for the rooms you are already designing, in the alloy and patina your scheme calls for.

We are a fabricator and a studio, not a design practice. Your client stays yours.

How we work with you

One promise, and it is the whole relationship

We make you look good, and we do not take your client.

IMDG does not practice interior design. We do not offer design services to homeowners, we do not take residential design work, and we will not be introduced to your client as anything other than your fabricator. The direction on the room is yours.

What we design is the piece — the relief, the pattern, the alloy, the mounting. That is the part you hire a foundry to design, and it is the part we are good at.

If we are ever in a room with your client, it is because you put us there.

Trade program

Terms in writing, before you specify

Every piece is cast to order and quoted per piece. The outline below is how we work; exact terms are confirmed in writing with each quote.

Trade pricing Preferred trade pricing for accredited designers and architects. Minimum orders may be waived. Terms apply.
Your contact Adriel Wool, principal · adriel@idahomountaindesigngroup.com · 208-913-0063
Quoting Written quote per project. Metal is priced at proposal — copper is a traded commodity and we would rather be accurate than optimistic.
Samples Finish samples on request, against a sample fee that may be credited toward your first order. Always specify from a physical sample on the actual alloy.
Lead time Confirmed in writing with each quote, from approved sample to ready to ship.
Deposit Payment schedule set out in each quote, typically a deposit on signing and the balance on completion.
Change orders Changes are easiest before your client approves the master. After the master is cut, a change is quoted separately.
Freight Crated freight quoted with the order. Bronze relief is heavy, so we treat freight as a real line rather than boilerplate.
Insurance Insurance details on request.

Every project is quoted in writing, so you can schedule it with confidence.

Before the specification

Work we do for you, not for your client

What we do for a design firm before any metal is poured, none of it competing with you.

Previsualization

Renders of a proposed piece in your client's room may be available per project, depending on scope. Ask us for details.

The work

Original relief artwork, cast in bronze

One original relief design, created in our studio and offered in variations: cast as tiles and as larger panels, in silicon bronze or white bronze, finished by hand. More designs will follow.

Every piece is cast to order and priced per piece on request, with sizes, weights and finishes confirmed in the quote.

For your drawing set

Everything you need to schedule it

Cast solid bronze to order, not plated and not filled: an original relief design, as tiles and as larger panels for a wall, an entry or a hearth. Sizes and weights on request.

Read before you specify

Solid bronze relief is heavier per square foot than stone. Standard thinset over cement board will not reliably hold it on a vertical surface. Wall installations need either mechanical anchoring — a concealed cleat or a threaded stud cast into the back plate — or a structural epoxy over a verified substrate, and the wall assembly must be reviewed before the order is placed. Floor installations are unproblematic.

Bring us into the design phase. Discovering this at installation is how a project loses its schedule.

Two alloys

Silicon bronze (C65500 Everdur) — warm and golden as cast, holds fine relief, and takes the full patina range. Specify where warmth and depth are wanted.

White bronze (nickel silver) — pale and near-platinum, and resists sulfide patination by design, so it stays bright. Superb against dark stone and charcoal fields.

Finishes

Mechanical — as cast, brushed satin, polished bright, bead blast.

Patinas on silicon bronze — light brown, French brown (the architectural default), amber statuary, Japanese brown, chocolate, near black, verdigris, blue-green.

White bronze — natural, brushed, mirror, relieved antique.

Always specify from a physical sample on the actual alloy.

Sealing

Incralac for anything a client will not maintain — five to ten years exterior, longer inside. Microcrystalline wax where there is a property manager.

A living, unsealed finish is a design decision, never an omission, and we will ask for it in writing.

Per project, on request

  • Dimensions, and weight per tile and per square foot
  • Substrate and mounting details
  • Finish range with sample references
  • Lead time and care instructions

Every piece is made to order, so the spec sheet is written for your project and sent with the quote. Ask for one at any stage.

Wet areas

Chlorides and common bathroom cleaners attack chemical patinas. In showers, steam rooms and around pools, either seal with Incralac and maintain a wax topcoat, or specify a mechanical finish and disclose the surface as living.

Never specify an unsealed verdigris or blue-green in a wet area. It migrates and stains the surrounding stone, and the failure gets attributed to your specification rather than to maintenance.
